Gilles Néret (né en 1933) est historien, journaliste. écrivain, correspondant de musées. Il a organise au japon de grandes rétrospectives impressionnisme de Renoir à Gauguin. Mais aussi Millet, Rousseau, Modigliani, Léger, Kandinsky, la Biennale de Paris, la sculpture moderne, Dali ... Membre fondateur du musée Seibu et de la Galurn. Wildenstein à Tokyo, il a été successivement rédacteur en chef et directeur de L'Oeil et de Connaissance des Arts. Il est l'auteur de monographies consacrées à Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, Cézanne, Klimt, Picasso, Botticelli et a reçu le prit Elie Faure 1981 pour sa collection « A l'école des grands peintres ».
